Bombardier Complete Worlds Largest Single-Vehicle Tram Fleet

Bombardier have finished the order for 220 FLEXITY trams for the Brussels transport authority STIB (Socit des Transports Intercommunaux de Bruxelles). Now that the order has been fulfilled, STIB now owns the world’s largest, single-type tram fleet.

The order was placed back in 2003 for 46 Bombardier FLEXITY Outlook trams. The next order from STIB came in September 2005 for an additional 22, followed by another in January 2008 for 87 more trams. In 2010, the final order for another 65 trams brought the total order to 220. In total, STIB had ordered 70 seven-module trams and 150 five-module vehicles.
